Relay 2017 was an incredible event! With new features, such as team beads for each lap, two VIP tents, the Obstacle Course inflatable, food trucks and a DJ who taught the crowd how to dance, Relay 2017 was definitely a hit! This year’s Survivor lap was impressive with more survivors and families than previous years. In addition, the Luminary Ceremony [in memory of those we have lost to cancer] was moving and featured special performances by our own BHS talent. By the end of the day, we estimated that we raised around $17 000 and anticipate additional donations will be made next week. This is a significant amount of money and we know our group effort will make a difference for many Canadians who are battling cancer!
Kudos to the staff & student teams for helping us raise funds & awareness for cancer research/patient services, as well as for dressing up and showing your school spirit as we made hundreds of laps around the track in an effort to put an end to cancer.
Another 'shout out' to Kelsey Behan's family, who made the largest 'single' donation of $1500! Thank you!
Last, but not least, a heartfelt thank you to the Relay Crew 2017, who worked countless hours throughout the year during their lunches, after school and on the weekends to put together this amazing event. I am inspired by their commitment, leadership, creativity and passion for making a difference, not only at BHS, but for the cancer community at large. Well done team!
